Big Sean Delays New Album Days Before Release: ‘I Gotta Push It Just a Lil Bit’

Big Sean Postpones Release of New Album

Big Sean's upcoming album will not be released this Friday as initially scheduled.

The 36-year-old rapper revealed that he is delaying the launch of his sixth studio album, *Better Me Than You*, just days before its planned release date on August 9.

On Monday, Sean posted on Instagram promoting his latest single “On Up.” He wrote, “I’m thinking of throwing a BBQ for real so we can all end the summer together, because this song gives me that vibe! *BETTER ME THAN YOU* ALBUM COMING SOON! 🤲🏾🌍🔥☀️”

However, one fan questioned his choice of words, “album soon,” asking, “Why are you saying album soon like it’s not supposed to drop on the 9th !!!???!??”

Sean responded, “I have to push it back a little bit. The music is done, but I’m organizing listening events, shows, etc. Might need an extra week or two to plan. 🤲🏾✨”

The former G.O.O.D. Music artist did not attribute the delay to the album’s leak last month, which some claimed was by a fan of Kanye West. Other fans speculated that Kanye himself was responsible for the leak.

During an Instagram Live stream in July, Sean addressed the issue, saying, “I know he didn’t do that. I love Ye. Without him, there wouldn’t be a me. I’ve been there since *Graduation*. I got to study, contribute, and give energy to every project. *808s, Beautiful Twisted*... I know he wouldn’t do that; that’s trash. So whoever did do that, just know it did mess me up.”

As of now, Sean has not announced a new release date for *Better Me Than You* on his social media.
